John 14
We are reading through the Gospel of John over 21 days at River Church. We are calling this 21 Days with John. I am posting a quick thought every day from my reading. I saw two different things in John 14 that I would like to share with you today.
In John 14:6 Jesus tells us “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. Jesus says the only way we can have a relationship with God is through him. This is also seen elsewhere in the Bible for example Acts 4:12 and 1 Timothy 2:5. The Gospel is the most important message in the whole world. It is that we can have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Then in John 14:26 Jesus introduces us to the Holy Spirit. I love the way the Amplified Bible puts John 14:26 “But the Comforter (Counsellor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you”. We have the Holy Spirit to help us grow in our relationship with God. We have been provided a way to have a living relationship with God. Jesus is the only way we can have a relationship with God. The Holy Spirit has been given to lead us into a deeper relationship with God. This wonderful relationship is available to you and me today. My prayer for today is “Thank you Jesus that you are the way, the truth and the life and that I can have a relationship with God through you. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who leads us into a deeper relationship with you. Please give me opportunities to share this good news with others”.
