John 2

We are reading through the Gospel of John over 21 days at River Church. We are calling this 21 Days with John. I will be posting a quick thought every day from my reading. I saw two things today from John 2:1-11 about Jesus’ first miracle that encouraged me.

In John 2:11 we see “this is the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him”. A miracle is when God intervenes in the ordinary course of nature. Jesus still performs miracles today. The purpose of a miracle is so we put our faith in Jesus.

We see the key to this miracle was when Mary told the servant’s in John 2:5 to “do whatever he tells you”. Jesus is able to use our simple acts of obedience to serve his purposes. We serve a God who is able to use ordinary people to do extraordinary things if we just obey him.

My prayer for today is "Thank you Jesus that you still perform miracles today. Thank you that you use ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Please help me to do whatever you tell me today. Please reveal your glory so people put their faith in you.”
