John 21

We have been reading through the Gospel of John over 21 days at River Church. It has been an exciting adventure going through 21 Days with John. I have been posting a quick thought every day from my reading.

Today’s reading is John 21 and I saw two things I would like to share with you. In John 21:20 John refers to himself as "the disciple who Jesus loved". He then tells us it is himself he is talking about in John 21:24. This is an amazing way to see yourself - as a recipient of Jesus love. To say "I am one who Jesus loves" is saying I do not deserve his great love for me. Like John says later in 1 John 4:19 "we love him, because he first loved us".

In closing this series of posts a final thought from John 20 and 21. In John 20:31 we see the purpose of the Gospel of John is "that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name". The best thing that could happen from all these posts is that someone (perhaps it is you) gives their life to Jesus! John 20:30 says "Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book".

John 21:25 says "Jesus did many other things as well, If every one of them where written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written". If you have not done 21 Days with John please follow our example at River Church. It has been a wonderful experience reading through the Gospel of John over the past 21 days.

My prayer for today is "Thank you Jesus for the Gospel of John. I ask that people encounter Jesus as a result of these posts on 21 Days with John. Thank you that I am a disciple who Jesus loves".
