John 9

In John 9 we see Jesus heal a man who was blind from birth. I saw three things from this event that I would like to share with you today.

John 9:6-7 records the method Jesus used to heal this man. The man himself tesifies in John 9:11 "Jesus made some mud and put in on my eyes. He told me to go to the pool and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see". We see Jesus heal the blind in different ways in the Gospels. These include speaking the word, spiting in a mans eye, touching peoples eyes and deliverance from an evil spirit. The method changes but Jesus is always the one who heals. We should not look for methods but rather to Jesus.

We also see that this healing upset the Pharisees. The disciples wanted to understand it and know what caused the man to be born blind in the first place. But for the man himself, the important thing was that he could see. In John 9:25 he says "one thing I know. I was blind but now I see!" We may not always understand the why, when or how but we know that Jesus changes lives. I certainly do not understand everything but I know that I have purpose, peace and joy because I gave my life to Jesus.

Then in John 9:35-38 we see Jesus finds the man and reveals himself to the man as the Saviour. Jesus wants to reveal himself to people today. Only Jesus can open our spiritual eyes so we can see him in a new light. Jesus wants to reveal himself as Lord and Saviour to people today.

My prayer for today is "Thank you Jesus that you use different methods and people but you are always the healer. Thank you for the purpose, peace and joy I have because of you. Jesus please reveal yourself to others as Lord and Saviour."
